En route, un zombie surgit de l'arrière du véhicule ; Leon tente de le repousser mais perd le contrôle de la voiture qui finit sa course dans un panneau de signalisation. Reprenant à peine leurs esprits, ils aperçoivent un camion-citerne en train de leur foncer dessus. Le conducteur, mordu récemment par un zombie, s'est transformé pendant qu'il conduisait. Les deux héros n'ont que le temps de sauter chacun de leur côté avant que le camion ne vienne s'encastrer dans leur voiture. Séparé de Claire par un énorme feu, Leon lui crie de se diriger vers le commissariat pour qu'ils s'y rejoignent
